Poor Dexter, and a rough ride for you too...sounds like a good plan getting it sorted under anaesthetic :)

Will be thinking of you tomorrow morning. Do you think he gets sand down his ears?

How he is feeling much better after the vet trip. Sounds like a good idea...

I always feel so guilty about withholding their food too..... If only we could explain!!

    Re: Ear Mites!

Boo Hoo, I dropped him off,he wasn't happy but he wasn't sad ,resigned I think is the word! You are right Rachael ,if only you could tell them that you are doing it to help them :'( an emergency came in so the operating list has been pushed back so I'm getting on with some cooking for the freezer for the next group of visitors that arrive tomorrow whilst I'm waiting to be able to collect him. He'll be gutted that he's had to go even longer without food ;D
Stacia ,his ears do get sandy sometimes and I just give then a little wipe with cotton wool and cooled boiled water,I've never fussed them really being of the belief less messing results in less problems with ears...when he's got his head in my lap of an eve I lift his ears with the idea it might let a bit of air down!im hoping it's as simple as ear mites due to him not being protected....his spot on treatment has been Advantix rather than the Frontline that is used here...the other vet I see gives me a prescription that PAH fill for me as Advantix isn't available here.....it doesn't protect against ear mites though :-\ ....so he's had Advocate this week, this second vet that I see reckons ear mites are more an issue than ticks here ( although I have taken a couple of ticks off him last year yeeeeuck) so the Advocate is the better product...hey oh,let's see what happens now !
Mags, you can't get Thornit powder here, when I mentioned it I was told to proceed with caution with it,I know quite a few forum members use it successfully though x
Thanks everyone ,I know he'll be fine....and his teeth with be super sparkling too ;D

    Re: Ear Mites!

12 hours later I've got him home,Lordy he wasn't in that long when he had his tail op and castration!
A traffic accident came in and delayed the operation list so Dexter wasn't treated until 2 pm....bless him he'd been there since 7.25 am....
Not to worry now, ears are all sparkling clean, teeth are too although we got teeth done for free as there was so little to do ;D...
He did 2 poos when I got him out the car and he was straining to do a 3rd....I don't remember him having a dicky tummy after his last op...ah lots of tlc tonight....
Thanks for all your kind thoughts and wishes x
