We have a new pup who has settled really well. I'm about to start crate training her and completely understand a tasty kong will distract her whilst I shut the crate door - especially as I'll be re-opening it again in a matter of seconds/minutes!

But at some point not too far down the road, she will finish her Kong and the door will still be shut! - what should I expect to happen then?!

And - do I fill her Kongs from the beginning even though I'm only shutting the door for a few seconds/minutes - in which case her finishing the Kong and the door still being shut is a little way off - or should I only be putting a little food in her Kong initially - in which case her finishing it and the door still being shut will happen a lot sooner!

    Hope that makes sense!

This is an amazingly helpful Forum - thank you for any replies!

If she is kind of calm eating her Kong, then she might just stay calm, settle down and have a snooze?
I think that is what Lilly did, but she was a happy cave dweller and didn't have the kong in a crate experience until a little older.
Give it a go and see what she does would be my advice.
