Hello all, my 6mth old lab has started to like an early morning bark in his crate. Our routine is as follows: dog is crated from about 10.30pm til 6am when he is woken up and let out into the garden for a toilet break. Dog then goes back to crate for more sleep before he's let out at 7am for breakfast. If we don't wake him up at 6am or soon after, he wakes up naturally and will bark to be let out. So we try to avoid him barking to be let out first thing if we can.

He has now started barking much earlier to be let out of his crate post-toilet break (so we know it is not because he needs a wee etc) which starts quietly and gets louder as we ignore him. Once out, he then sleeps on the sofa oil breakfast is served.

Should we just ignore his barking? We never go to him whilst he is barking - we always wait till he is quiet to approach the crate.

He loves his crate and is very happy in there. Many thanks for any advice.

Hi there, would he settle outside of his crate once he has been out for a toilet break? Where does he spend his day after you get up?
