Due to some family health issues, I've brought my pops down to stay with me for the week. He's 87, uses either a walker or cane and is neither very stable or strong on his feet. I was worried about how I would manage this with my wild and rowdy boy in the house, but he has been amazing. ;D Edsel has not tried to jump on or run at my father a single time. He sits down in front of him or sleeps at his feet. Goes to pops when he calls him just like he's done this perfectly his whole life. I am absolutely amazed and so proud. Pops can be a bit cranky and is always certain that dogs are more trouble than they could possibly be worth, but he is obviously taken with my boy. And it's so sweet to hear him comment on how much Edsel likes him and spends so much time near him. It's been a tough year for my dad since mom passed away after 68 years of marriage and I've seen him express more tenderness and caring toward Edsel this week than at any other time in the last year. I know I'm not very objective, but I believe I have one special fella! Lori
Re: Edsel's Latest Success How lovely to read about the budding relationship between Edsel and your Dad. Your Dad will miss him - you'll have to plan another visit
Re: Edsel's Latest Success Ah that's lovely to read. ;D I'm sure dogs have a natural instinct of how to behave around certain people (very young, old etc)!
Re: Edsel's Latest Success That's so lovely. It's amazing how dogs just seem to know and they are very good at getting through we're people can't. My old lab was just the same with my nan. Even during his jumping up at everything teenage phase he never jumped up at her and would go to sleep on her rug in the sun. Dogs are certainly special.
