Sounds like she really enjoyed hydrotherapy, and it sounds like (despite the insurers...) you have found the centre which really suits her :)
Good luck with the Xrays next week!

So pleased Mabel enjoyed the hydrotherapy. The insurance cover isn't everything, it's best to be happy with your therapist and the centre.

Pleased to hear that her escapade on Thursday didn't result in any injury. Sounds as I she just bumped her elbow and made it hurt.

Crossing everything for you for the x-rays, another milestone but a nerve wracking event, but she will be fine . Oh and Juno says it's not fair that she doesn't have hydro anymore. She's very jealous of Mabel now

That's sounding positive. The therapist sounds good, I'm happy for you, I can imagine how that session felt. Good luck with the xrays.:)

Another little milestone tomorrow Mabel has a play date. My friend needs someone to mind her black lab for 4-5 hours, he's the most gorgeous boy with a brilliant temperament (he's a stud dog for guide dogs for the blind). He does this most amazing little growl when Mabel gets too excited. She stops what she is doing and plays nicely rather than trying to sit on his head. Just what she needs so she can slowly start to get back to normal. We've had a 10 minute trial it worked fabulously, she's a little star.

Hope the play date goes well. Juno is tired and a little stiff today after going to her best doggie friends birthday party yesterday afternoon :rolleyes::rolleyes: She had such a wonderful time though and even started to tell a couple of the other dogs off - she is so laid back she doesn't normally react at all let alone bark! Planning a shorter walk today and a swim in the lake instead :D

MaccieD it's is going particularly well they are both snoozing at my feet. He is such a gorgeous gentle boy, she was a bit rough so he barked she was then a delicate angel (well sort of). They were playing tug and he growled it was a play growl but she misunderstood and dropped the tug toy. He did the most wonderful thing. Ran up to her and put the rope by her mouth, she grabbed it and they carried on playing. Beautiful.
Poor Juno being a bit stiff today, I think you are handling things so well it gives our beautiful dogs a good quality of life managing ED this way. I plan to do the same with Mabel in the coming months. She has a check up on 13th which I thought was Wednesday I've realised today it's Thursday. Oh well not that many more days to go. X

He fancies her :D:D. Chepi met up with her friend today too and was a cheeky flirt
Enjoy the afternoon and good luck on Thursday.

It's really love to see how they play together sometimes. Your friends dog sounds wonderful, so good with a younger smaller girl. Really the sort of dog you want our girls playing with :)

Juno seems fine now - we had our walk at the lake and she had fun swimming and retrieving. She was rather intrigued to see some pedaloes on the lake - we've not seen them before. Also had a play of football in the garden after dinner, now curled up in her cosy bed in the living room ;)

Not long to go for the check-up although if you're like me it was nerve-wracking waiting for the verdict. Mabel will be fine and get the thumbs up :D

I've had a quiet word with Mabel and told her he's a stud dog he'll be unfaithful and watch she doesn't get her heart broken. He'd gone to sleep and she lay by him on her back gently rubbing his nose with her paw. Honestly what a floozie

Great news from the specialist Mabel is doing really well. He said that considering how bad she was at her first visit he would not have expected such a high level of improvement at this stage (6 weeks post op). He couldn't stop smiling what a nice man.
There is still a little swelling on the joints which he would expect at this stage and she does have some lose of movement in the joints, luckily he doesn't see it as a problem. He thought my choice of hydrotherapy centre was first rate and definitely the best place for her, she will benefit from one session a week for the rest of her life. I'll do anything to stop further surgery. He has given me a long term plan of action which I was pleased to say was along the same lines I was thinking anyway.
She has 4-6 more weeks on the lead (he recommended an extendable lead, just been to the Pet Shop, I should have shares in them by now) then I can gradually start letting her off and playing with other dogs at the end of the walk. She can see her boyfriend but as the specialist put it "not the crazies in the park". Although as it's raining and no one was about I did let her off lead to sniff in the undergrowth for 5 mins. I have been very slow to increase the duration of her walks he has suggested I build up to half hour walks in the next 6 weeks. Slowly does it seems to be the key.
So very happy and relieved. Moving massively forward today.
Thank you all for your support over the last six weeks I couldn't have done this alone. Xx

roxy was also diagnosed at 7 months following her limping.with us it was also sheer bad luck as parents had good scores.she had first elbow operated on at 8months and second at 14 months.she is 3 in November and still quite lame when walking but does have mad 5s when she runs around like a lunatic. It breaks my heard to think she might be in pain but the vet reassured me she isn't.

Juno and I are so pleased that Mabel has had such a good report from the specialist. So good that he had an action plan which was on the same lines you'd been thinking. Slowly increasing her walks will make such a difference as well. Oh, I'm just so happy for you :D:D. Hugs from me and licks from Juno

MaccieD Mabel would send Labrador licks to Juno if she wasn't snoring on the sofa. We have booked a weeks holiday in the Wye valley in October. She will just be off lead by then. Exciting.
Funny 6 weeks ago I was desperate to rush now I know taking it slow and steady gets the results.
Hope the house move is progressing, we look forward to meeting up once you are settled. X

I know that feeling as I felt the same with Juno but then realised there was no rush to increase walks and activity and that slowly has the best results.

House move isn't moving at the moment but that's a long boring story which has me climbing walls with frustration, but we will get there and look forward to our girls meeting up :D:D:D

I can imagine how you feel, we've decided to have an extension. Although with a puppy not sure it's wise
