Late this afternoon, coming towards the end of our walk, Molly dived into the bushes and came out with what I thought was a stick. She carried it along beside me till we got to the place where she needed to go on the lead, but then wouldn't come to me. At that point I looked more carefully and realised she was carrying a cooked leg of lamb bone. I tried offering treats,, getting out her toy rabbit on a rope but nothing would work. I was parked in the road so I couldn't just go and sit in the car and pretend to drive, off, which I've resorted to once before in an empty car park at the beach. Finally I sat on a bench and pretended to burst into tears. (By now it was dark, I was tired and had things to do at home, so it didn't take much acting.) Molly dropped the bone and came running! I guess I'd better not try that trick too often.
Re: Emotional blackmail! Aww....bless her. You have to wonder how these things get to littering our countryside though :-\
Re: Emotional blackmail! ??? Poor Molly...but good thinking on your part... My big dog drags home deer parts from time to time, and Bella thinks is FABULOUS that her sister brings her treats. : Thankfully the big girl resource guards enough that Bella doesn't get much until it's into smaller manageable bits of bone without any fleshy (and stinky) parts.... :-X
Re: Emotional blackmail! Isn't it bizarre, the things people leave lying around.... So funny and sweet that she came running. Not so funny that she waited till you'd reached your limit!!! Cheeky girl...
