As it has been such a lovely afternoon decided to let Juno have her birthday present a little early WIN_20150606_152053 by Rosemary McDonagh, on Flickr WIN_20150606_152109 by Rosemary McDonagh, on Flickr WIN_20150606_152125 by Rosemary McDonagh, on Flickr
She loved it and nearly had as much as we filled the pool from buckets as she kept trying to drink the water as it poured in, and as I turned round with a bucket of water at one point she was just sitting in the water and looking me as if to say "Hurry up mum, I want to play in the water nowwwwww...............
That is so cute! Lilly just uses her pool as a big drinking bowl Though we aren't anywhere approaching summery weather yet up here
The last couple of days Juno has had great fun chasing leaves around the water as it's been very windy here, oh and picking up the cherries dropped by the birds. Seem to be spending my life saying "tu laisses" - sorry but she is French and learnt French commands first we do also use English but I guess the "tu laisses" is a hangover from doggy walks where French is the usual language used although some off the dogs were learning English
Heh, I had an argument a couple of months ago with someone who thought I shouldn't be teaching my dogs hand signals because other people should be able to tell my dogs to do things, too. I should be teaching them English "commands". I pointed out a) that they have a verbal cue for each visual cue, it just may not be what people think it should be, b) I don't want other people telling my dogs what to do anyway - what gives them the right and c) I asked what language he would like me to train them in, seeing as I'm English, the dogs are French, we live in a place where Catalan is the national language but Spanish is widely spoken, and we have lots of tourism from Portugal, the Netherlands, Belgium, Russia etc. He wouldn't budge. All dogs should be taught in English. Even if their owners are Catalan - he even told one of my Catalan friends this and challenged her as to why she taught her dog in Catalan. Quite mad.
I know, you get some strange people when it comes to ideas about training your dog and how you should do it.I've tried go keep a mix with Juno, first language is English, she also responds to some French commands and I use some hand signals. It's really coma about as her first commands were obviously French, our trainer is English but has lived here since she was 13 so in our lessons it was English, bug her dogs are trained and respond to both as her partner doesn't speak English. Our doggy walks with her are a mix of French and English, our vet is French but speaks excellent English but our hydro therapist spoke no English. Interestingly when I was working in Purchasing I had to let a contract to locate suitable dogs and then have them trained for a country in South America to help in their fight against drugs. Part of their requirement was that the dogs had to be trained in Spanish as their handlers would be Spanish speaking - people thought it strange that we should be asking for Spanish speaking trainers, I thought it was a bit obvious but perhaps that's just me......
