I was pleased! Now to get round the park...

It is a busy park, which makes me feel a bit better. But gosh, it is slow work with him. It's like every new bit of walk we start afresh. We can still only do one walk at the common, I'm still walking round the same track, and introducing a new few metres of woodland at a time! Last night, the new bit had a fox hole in it. Such a circus! ::)

I hope he catches on soon!

Ah Julie there is so much more going on with your Charlie than just excitement,he's a young dog in his prime with all the energy ,curiosity and playful exhuberhance in his personality you would ever want ......in a dog that's not rehabilitating ! ;D
Possibly by the time you get the total walk proofed safely,it won't matter if he goes round it like an out of control truck as he will be fully recovered( yay, yay, aya) and everything will be so much easier ....keep your chin up,time is passing xxxx

Is that 5 minutes of you off the lead or him?

Seriously though, you have worked long and hard and deserve success. Trying to keep a healthy, young, exuberant dog down is a massive task. I've only had a few days of it with Molly's spay. I'm full of admiration at your stickability.

I was in your neck of the woods today (Wimbledon Common) didn't see any chocolate labs so I figured you were not there.

Been there, done that, got the tee shirt ;D It is bliss when they can have five minutes off lead etc. I can promise you in the future it will all seem a blur and you will forget this trying time. xx

Thanks all. Was moaning at OH about it taking 4 months to do the park entrance - and he pointed out I quit trying for about a month, then Charlie was on crate rest, then we didn't go there...blah blah. Anyway, it's been nothing like 4 months. Which made me feel better.

Ah, thanks, Stacia. I know you went through it with your pup. It's good to hear it all fades away in time!
