We`ve just returned home from a little break on Exmoor . We booked the cottage via Best of Exmoor , the cottage is called Riverside Cottage in a hamlet called Malmsmead , inland from Porlock and in the most stunning valley . The cottage stands on the Devon side of the river Oare , the other side is Somerset . Its well equipped , sleeps four and is very welcoming to dogs ! A dog walkers paradise , but make sure to take with you most of your groceries , its a long drive to a supermarket ! The cottage is next door ( same owner ) to the café/pub , The Lorna Doone Inn , it also shares the beautiful garden leading to the river . This wasn't a problem as the café/pub doesn't open in the evenings , so from about 4.p.m. the garden was ours alone . It is isolated and secluded , which we wanted , an absolute gem of a spot .
