It feels like every time Harley gets over something, she picks up something else! I noticed she had a bit of a weepy eye yesterday so cleaned it and monitored it. This morning it was worse so off to the vets we went. Her left eye has got an infection and her right eye has a small ulceration. She's on metacam and antibiotic eye drops. She has been so good with me putting in the eye drops. Just really feel for her at the minute. The only bonus is that I'm getting even more cuddles than usual. She is literally following me everywhere I go. We e got to go for a check up on Saturday to see how she's doing.
ooh nasty! Sounds like you have caught it really early though. Hope Harley will be more comfy very soon x
Ah, it always seems these things come in an annoying little rush of a few things at a time. Charlie's eyes have always been a tiny bit weepy. I messed around at the vet a fair bit when he was a puppy and not much seemed to help. In the end, I was just super diligent about washing his face when he came in from walking (and sniffing) the London streets. This improved matters greatly. Then, last October his eyes were a bit worse than normal, and back off to the vet we went. It took until January to get it all cleared up! Was a right old faff.
Such a good girl she is, to not fuss when you put in the drops. Anything wrong is a concern but eye problems give me the willies and scare me, off to the Vet at the slightest hint of a problem with eyes for me.
It does feel like its one thing after another sometimes. So sorry hope she's ok soon. I've been up all night with one of mine and will be ringing the vet when they open.
Her eyes look a bit better today so hopefully it will be ok in a few more days. I'm going to start wiping her eyes after walks as she does spend a lot of time running in long grass and I'm forever finding seeds on her head / body. Fingers crossed nothing else goes wrong!
I tend to wash their faces and even just sluice down their legs and tummies after a walk as in the winter I have to walk on salty roads and in the summer there is a lot of pollen/seeds and stuff about it does seem to help.
Poor Harley she does get her fare share of health problems I hope she is feeling better today and her eye is clearing up. xx
Oh, poor Harley! If she comes on playdate maybe we'd better do a different route than down the track - farmer's barley is now eye-height and Pongers is delighting in bounding through scattering seed everywhere....
The eye drops seem to be working......her eyes are a lot better. Not sure how she got the ulceration - the vet said it could of been when she was itching her eyes with her paw / dew claw earlier in the week. @Rosie .....Harley is happy to go on any route. She loves long grass / barley. We will just rinse them out when we get back to yours if that's ok? She's very excited about her upcoming play date
