We are now back to a 2 dog family after losing are beloved 12 year old Cairn Terrier. She leaves behind our 5 year old chocolate Labrador minstrel and our 6 month old yellow lab Simba. Poppy had a bad cough which we eventually took her to the vet about and she was diagnosed with a heart condition. She was put on medication and kept well. The day before she died I noticed her cough seemed deeper but she was her usual happy self running around begging for treats when they were on offer. The next morning she seemed very flop and poorly we took her to the vet who told us she had fluid on her lungs. He gave her pain killers and some other medication. He told us she may get better but if she remained the same over the next few days then we should bring her back to be put to sleep. Within half an hour of being home she peacefully passed away. She is now with our black lab liquorice at rainbow bridge. She had a happy life and although the other 2 dogs appeared out of sorts on the day she went they picked up the next day as they had each other. One thing that is strange is that on the day they passed both poppy and liquorice before her isolated themselves in the garden as if they knew their time was up. Lisa x
I’m very sorry to hear your sad news. I hope you will soon be able to remember Poppy in happier times.
So sorry to hear Poppy has passed away peacefully. I hope it is some small consolation that she was home with you x
Having just been through the same, I do feel for you, their lives are far too short. As @Beanwood said, she did die at home and with you there and that must be a comfort, mine was put to sleep in my living room and to know they died at home means they never really left. But we miss them dreadfully x
Just caught up with your news. So sad for you. It sounds that you did your best for your little Poppy and she slipped away at home where she was safe and comfortable. Run free xx
So sorry for your sad loss. Time will ease your pain, and you will remember the many, many good times with Poppy xx
