Hi, Meg is booked for her Bronze KC test next week. She has been doing so well with all the exercises but the 1 minute stay was quite a challenge. She is 8m and just so happy, I think her permanent tail wagging stops her sitting too long. Anyhow we have worked hard on our Stay this week. Last night we had a bit of a "mock" test. Oh she was a dream, she nailed everything even the dreaded stay. I was so proud of her then.......I noticed a spot of blood on the floor. Concerned for all the dogs I got everyone to check their dogs for a cut etc.. But oh no Meg had started her season :( Of all the places to start ! So we now cant do our test and we cant go to class for 3 weeks. Meg is very quiet this morning with perhaps explains the perfect stay last night :(

Oh that must be so frustrating! But on the bright side just think about all the extra practice you can put in and then nail that stay when you come to do the test!!

unlucky on the timing but agree on the added practice time. The stay is strange, Kenzi at home will always stay in a sit and can stay for a couple of minutes BUT in class when it gets to about 40secs she usually lies down, so for her Bronze I had to do the stay in a lie (and will have to try that for the Silver too)....whats weird is that I can't really practice that much at home because she often refuses to do a stay lying down at home...strange dog ;)

Good luck with the Bronze when you take it, I think you get a second chance on a failed exercise anyway with the bronze whereas you don't with Silver/Gold tests.

Always perfect timing eh! As the others have said, at least you get more time to perfect her sit and stay :)

    Oh what a shame!!!

But congrats on getting her to the point where she can do all the exercises :) She will still be a star when you are able to do the test :)

Thanks for listening to me moan and for all the encouraging words. Meg is very glum and not herself at all. She is feeling really sorry for herself so we shall have a quiet couple of weeks and then get back to it with gusto. At least I can now plan to get her spayed :)

Ah poor Meg... But it will pass soon. You may find she is more clingy than normal, and that she needs to urinate more often than is usual for her. Some bitches want to be left alone when in season; some need more attention. If your garden is safely fenced, it'll be a good place to play with her and do some training for the next three weeks. If you have friends with female dogs, she may enjoy having a visitor over for a good run around in the garden.

Ah thanks Karen. Yes she is a very loving dog but right now she just wants to curl up on my lap like a cat ! We are lucky as have loads of space and doggy pals so we shall get though it but will be glad when its over . I am just glad I got my old Mally castrated in time or else it would be hellish up here on the hill ;)
