Just wondering how much my pup should have each day to eat with James well beloved puppy kibble food he seems to be hungry even after 200 grams.
Re: Feeding time I keep his food in a big container will have to look at pets at home see what it says on package and he is 11 weeks
Re: Feeding time If you Google how much to give your puppy of JWB and guess that his adult weight will be 25kg plus, I think you need to up the amount of food daily. I am assuming he is a Labrador? Looking at the chart you need to be feeding about 350gms plus at 12 weeks. http://www.wellbeloved.com/ideal-bodyweight/dog-feeding-guides Hope this helps.
Re: Feeding time Thank you stacia for your help just looked at the guide and 350gs daily it does seem a lot for a little puppy, but then again he does seem hungry been measuring out 200g then giving him about 60g extra daily so maybe he does need 350g, just don't want him to get fat, labs don't look nice when they are big and round I think thanks again.
Re: Feeding time It is best to use the packet recommendation as a guide to begin with, if pup looks fat, use less, if pup looks thin, use more. With my adult dog I give him a coffee mug of kibble twice a day and adjust it up or down by how he looks if needs be. My German Pointers who were much lighter in body and weight, actually had more than my Lab, they had two and a half mugs daily!
Re: Feeding time Yes I wouldn't follow the packet guidelines to the letter as that amount of food doesn't suit every dog! Try it for a while though, and see how you get on. If your pup starts to look a little tubby maybe cut back a little. It's a bit of trial and error really. Also if your pup gets diarrhoea after increasing the food intake then it's likely that you are overfeeding, so cut back down a little again. If I fed my dog the amount that is recommend on the packet of our food (Arden grange) she would be obese in no time at all!
Re: Feeding time Dexter found that my lab who passed away was happy with that at the same age as Rocky is now, but Rocky seems to want a lot more.
