Re: Feeding Your right Lochan it is so very difficult and we have the same here, Hattie is 25kg and gets 300g per day and Charlie is about 30kg and he gets 450g per day yet both of them are bang on That poor 56kg dog, what on earth did the owner say when you showed her what normal Labs should look like? x
Re: Feeding A 56kg lab? Blimey, another few kgs and the poor thing will be 2 x megs. When she was 8, hubby died suddenly and meg put on 5kgs. :-[ :-[ But once I came to my senses, I put her on arden grange light and monitored her food closely (and treats) and she quickly went down to 30gs. Once she started hydrotherapy, she really did get fit. I now monitor her weight, each time we go to vets which has been a lot in the last few months I weigh her and she has mostly stayed at 30kgs, a few times she's gone down to 29kgs but I think that's because she's decided to become fussy with her food.
Re: Feeding Used a tray and that slow her down a little bit! Will try hiding the food and making her work for it!
Re: Feeding Wow 56kg is huge!! The biggest lab I've seen was about 45kg but it wasn't just fat, he was a very large dog anyway! As most of you know Penny is one of the smallest adult labs on the forum, weighing in at 18.9kg at her last check two weeks ago. She is perfectly proportioned but I worry that I don't feed her enough. She's never been underweight but I feel like I feed her barely anything at all! She gets half a cup of kibble twice a day - I'm not sure how much this weighs without measuring when I get home but it looks like hardly anything when in her bowl. I've been tempted to start buying light food just so that she can eat larger portions!!
