For the very first time yesterday I handed Ripple over to the local dog walker, who lives in my village, for a whole day. She has a single dog pen and run in her garden with a crate which we furnished with Ripple's vet bed and nylabones.
He was there from 10am until 8pm and apparently had a whale of a time - pretty obvious by the fact he didn't actually want to come home with me  and was looking to her to see what exciting thing he was going to do next .

He went out in her van with some of the dogs she walks and had a great time with them, and then later in the afternoon had another long walk. He didn't even have time to eat his frozen Kong I had supplied in case he was struggling to settle.

I'm so pleased as I have been really concerned that I would never be able to leave him anywhere as he's always such high maintenance at home. I'm hoping now I can do this occasionally to give me a chance to have a day out now and again.

I also had a lovely day out at a hotel and spa where my daughter treated me to several beauty treatments and lunch, and we also spent quite a long time in the hotel swimming pool. This was my birthday treat for a big birthday which is today :D. Last years birthday treat was getting Ripple so I didn't want to repeat that just yet ;).

Ripple is still pretty tired today so hopefully it will be a lovely peaceful day for us both.

That sounds lovely! How fantastic you've found a place you're happy to leave Ripple when you need to in future.

And, of course, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! I hope it's a day filled with loveliness and cake. Lots of cake.

Thanks everyone I am enjoying a lovely quiet day, looking forward to an Indian takeaway with the family tonight - more celebrations at the weekend when OH gets home from a trip to Italy.

Ripple is still tired and I am reaping the benefits of him not eating 'stuff' when he was out with the dog walker. I had warned her that he was fond of eating all sorts of things but it appears he had too much fun with the other dogs to tuck into all the unsavoury bits he normally eats. Another bonus .

Happy Birthday! This post makes me feel better. Quinn is starting with a dog walker on Monday and I'm so nervous about it! Looks like Ripple settled in nicely and had lots of fun!
