Our family just got out first dog, my two boys are 12 and 18. We live in South Florida and also got hit by Hurricane Irma so I can't imagine what this little girl went through but she was a rescue from the Humane Society. We named her Shelby and she is 5 months old. She's very smart, after a week she doesn't potty in the house anymore. She doesn't jump on furniture, she doesn't beg for food, she doesn't bark, we've established lots of things. She's very eager to please me, always looking for my approval. I take her everywhere and do everything with her. She even went with me to pickup my son from school yesterday, that's the picture I'm posting. She fell asleep, car rides did that to me too. My wife never owned a dog, I've never seen her pet a dog ever has become very attached to her. Guess Shelby understands she's a female because she's different with my wife than us boys. She's a little tougher with my kids and wants to play with them. She may go into service training for my son but that's not 100% established yet. He's still going through more neuro tests. Aw beautiful Shelby, welcome to the forum and what a lucky girl you are to have found a new forever family She sounds perfect despite having been through so much xx
What a beauty. I can imagine there was a lot of interest in her so you must be thrilled to have been able to adopt her
Welcome! Shelby is a gorgeous girl and it seems like you both got lucky in finding each other. Looking forward to hearing more about her.
She was only in the shelter for hours, I'm not sure how many were interested in her. My best friend had a black lab and I always told my family that's what I would get. BUT...my kids were to pick the dog and my oldest wanted a Shepard but we lost out on the dog he wanted. We said it was the best we'll find our dog. The next day my son goes to the Humane Society and finds Shelby. That look, the picture above melted him and that was it. He's so happy now.
Welcome to you, Shelby and your family. She is gorgeous and sounds like she has settled in really well
