Hello! We are picking up our new black lab pup (Dutch) tonight and super excited. I have read a lot of conflicting advice/suggestions on where the pup should sleep the first few nights. I have a crate for him ready to go but not sure whether to have him sleep in my room in the crate the first few nights or have him downstairs. Appreciate anyone's advice here!
Hi there, and congratulations on your puppy! Having the puppy sleep in your room for the first few nights is the way to go. Being removed from their family is scary for new puppies. And keeping him close gives him a chance to get over his homesickness before he is expected to sleep alone.
