I bumped into a lady in our village this morning coming across the park, she immediately said to me that if I saw her Cocker Spaniel to send him home as he had run off again and she was heading home ??? apparently he does this quite a lot and often makes his way home. Luckily as I went through the gate onto the track there was a very sorry looking Spaniel stood still absolutely exhausted, slobber all round his face, bleeding tongue and soaked to the skin, I called after his owner who was very matter of fact about him and just yelled for him not even coming to collect him When he makes his own way home he has to cross a road and go through a farmers paddock which often has Sheep and Horses in it, or he goes along the main road. I am horrified that not only could her dog cause an accident if he ran into the road, cause himself serious injury or worse death, put livestock at risk and all because she hasn't trained him properly, he is only 3 1/2 years old. I have to admit to feeling really upset and wished I hadn't bumped into her, poor dog :'( xx
Re: Flabbergasted!! Wow, that is an excessively casual attitude!! Bit of a worry. As you say, that situation is unsafe all round. She needs a copy of Total Recall...
Re: Flabbergasted!! Oh I feel so sorry for the little dog,sat there with his tongue bleeding :'( :'( :'(
Re: Flabbergasted!! As was said recently - we on this forum are very conscientious dog owners. Sometimes I sadly feel we are in the minority.
Re: Flabbergasted!! What upset me the most was her attitude about the situation, it just didn't occur to her about the dangers, she and her friends just laughed about it :'( Her own Dad has 2 Labradors that are whistle trained and she looks after them occasionally, she was bowled over at the power of the whistle when I met her with the dogs last Summer, I just don't get it x
Re: Flabbergasted!! Maybe a call to the RSPCA or dog warden who would go round and advise her on how to keep a dog properly!
Re: Flabbergasted!! I have been informed of a Doberman being kept in a garden shed during the day in our village, I feel I must call the RSPCA. :'( What on earth is the matter with people, I am sick to death of witnessing this kind of cruelty especially after Dora :'( xx
Re: Flabbergasted!! If that was me the next I found her dog alone I would cart it off to the vets with a "oh I've found a stray dog!" Or even better your local stray kennels where she will have to pay a fine to get the dog back!!
