    Good Morning All,

With my previous dog, we used revolution for yearly flea & tick control. In my area, the season ranges from June to November.

My vet recommended NexGard and Heartgard for my boy since I am planning on bringing him on hikes in wooded areas.

Any of you have experience with these two products?

Some friends recommended the holistic approach with essential oil spray and powders?

    Thanks

Sorry, can't comment on the products recommended by your vet as not something I've used. Here's a recent article from our sister site regarding flea prevention etc and talks about the natural remedies

Personally I would go with my vets advice unless I had some very strong, scientifically based evidence for a reason not to, and prevention is far easier than cure.

I use Nexguard on Saba, and it works well. He takes it happily, and without any problems.

We have used Heartgard for years with Tilly and now also with Cooper. We do have them tested annually also. Heartworm is not common in the Pacific NW, but there are some cases, and it is a nasty parasite.

I use heartgard/nexgard combination for my dogs. Switched from Frontline a while ago.
This combo works much better without any bad reactions. (both from either walmart/amazon/petbucket)
