Joy and I are starting Flyball on Thursday. It's not something I've done before and I'm really looking forward to it as I think she's probably going to love it. I just could do with some advice as regards feeding her beforehand. She usually has her tea at 5pm after our last walk of the day. Flyball starts at 6.45 and it's about a 15 minute walk away. Is it OK to feed her at 5 as normal, or is that too close to more exercise? We finish at 7.45 which would mean if I feed her afterwards it would be at 8pm and I just think she'll be SO hungry by then. I was wondering whether to give her half her usual amount at 5 and the rest at 8, as her supper. (I was thinking of doing similar myself as being, I suspect, a Labrador cunningly disguised as a human I will also be SO hungry by 8pm.) Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Thankyou.

I got advise from gundog training to feed the dog 2 hours prior the training. If you stick to this same advise it is alright. Perhaps you can ask others how they do this?

For agility, I fed a little before and the rest when we got home. She gets 1.5 cups, so I would give her .5 cup approx. 2 hours before class just a bit earlier than her usual supper and the rest after (30 mins post class, which was actually quite late at 9pm). If I used a lot of treats in class, I would skip the second half dinner entirely.
