Re: For Pete's sake.... Chortle. Sorry, I really shouldn't laugh, but Simba is such a resourceful young fellow. He reminds me of my lovely old dog who was equally crafty and persistent when it came to stealing things he considered to be food. Simba is such a character. Are Swedish Berries particularly expensive...?
Re: For Pete's sake....
Lisa, there's no stopping that lad of yours!your kitchen must be the tidiest on thebforum ;D.....although I think Julie's is pretty minimal too ;D x
I think Charlie is Simba's understudy, they are sharing tips and techniques via the Lambie network. I'll get a video later (when works stops getting in the way) of Charlie opening his pen gate with a single flick of his tongue. He'll never get his crate catch open though. Why did I say that? I'm just asking for this post to be placed in the famous last words category!
Re: For Pete's sake.... I forgot to tell you....Dexter is resisting the Lambie Network.... At the weekend we had a BBQ...( on one of the few rainy days in Dubai :,typical!) I'd lifted the meat out from the fridge and put it on the side in the kitchen ( chefs instruction : : :) together with utensils ,serving dishes etc and the matches .I then went outside and got distracted talking to Chris and then our neighbour so must have been outside for about 15 minutes.....when I went back inside Dexter is curled up,snoozing on his blanket on the couch......the box of matches are on the floor in the middle of the lounge.....not chewed and he hadn't gone back to bother the meat at all!i couldn't really believe he had jumped up,taken the matches and not touched anything else.....well,I can ,because I've been so lucky and he's never stolen one item off the counter....except the matches, you'd have thoughthe'd have taken his chances though wouldn't you!? ;D Await Episode 2 in the 'Famous Last Words' category".........I'm sure it will be coming swiftly after Julie's Episode 1 post! ;D
Exactly!!! ;D Swedish Berries are soft, chewy, strawberry flavoured type candies. So not expensive, no. I'm sure, however, that his ingestion of those (and the chocolate) explained why he was a tad, shall we say, hyper on our walks that day..... :
Re: For Pete's sake....
you'd have thought he'd have taken his chances though wouldn't you!?
Sounds like a cheeky I could if I wanted to just to let you know.... ;D

I write FIRST in the 'Famous Last Words Category'.......seriously Dexter...???????? Sat with my girlfriends this eve....Dexter had been really good,we'd all had a good laugh about my friends spaniel jumping up onto the Christmas dinner table ha ha ha ha ,smug smug smug smug....nothing like that happens in our house ........... ......move to later in the eve,Dexter uses the brute force of his shoulder to prise a crack in the French doors open enough for him to get out into the garden....no rush in him, nonchalantly approaches the dining table....bit of in the air sniffing in the direction of the cheese board. ME: (confident because he had NEVER stolen a food item)....Dexter leave it,Dexter come... Dexter :'Tonight you are talking a foreign language AND I really want to make a show of you...so I'm not coming, and I'm DEFINITELY NOT leaving it.....in fact, watch me ,I can eat a whole wedge of Stilton in one scoff...... Oh how my friends laughed..... ME: Blummin Dog!words to that effect! Now the wait for the sensitive tummy repercussions......

My SIL said: should you take him to dog school? Me: well, we've been quite a lot.. SIL: didn't work then! :
Re: For Pete's sake.... Hah!! All the training goes to pot when people are around, for sure!! Hope Dex (and you ) didn't suffer too badly for his misdemeanour...
Re: For Pete's sake.... Good on you, Dex, you're developing valuable life skills there. The nonchalant saunter is a must. Also helps if you casually walk between the humans and the coffee table without looking at the food (they will think you can be trusted) and then launch your assault on the canapés from the other side. Works repeatedly as humans are slow to learn.
Re: For Pete's sake.... Stilton....nice! Did you swipe any crackers Dex? And did anyone pass you the port? Sounds like you had a fab party ;D ;D ;D
Re: For Pete's sake.... Dexter, you have a sensitive stomach. May I suggest that in future you confine your thievery to goats' cheese?? It's easier on the old digestive system. Clare
Re: For Pete's sake.... Strangely it wasn't soooo bad Jacqui Chris had the pleasure of the early walk and he was more bothered that Dexter had decided to go in a really awkward to get to bush!he got an extra mid morning walk as we are away for the night ( last night) and he went again which is unusual but that seems to be the worst of it so we've escaped quite lightly!we are staying at an 'Animal Resort' in Abu Dhabi.....aka a zoo built around a hotel...it's not really my cup of tea ( I struggle to do animals in confined spaces :'()but we are here with a group of friends with kids as my nephew is 5 on Wednesday and this is what he asked to do.....it was really interesting watching the giraffes settle down last night( our rooms overlook their enclosure).....there are 5 of them and they all kneel down to sleep and one stands guard....after a period they all get up have a shuffle around and another stands guard....very organized and considerate! Missing Dexter a lot though...we are just ordering breakfast and heading home ;D
Re: For Pete's sake.... only just seen what dexter as been up to ;D glad he is ok his tummy as not suffered to much,.....i was laughing my head off ;D ;D ;D
