The forum crashed early this morning. We thought at first it was a problem with the server as many people were visiting to look at the photo competition. However, it appears now that it is another problem with the forum software (Vbulletin). I had to chose between rolling back to a back up and getting the forum online again today, or waiting for a developer to fix the problem, which could be a matter of days. I therefore decided to let our hosts roll back to a recent back up and get the forum working again right away. What this means is that some of your most recent posts will be missing. And I do apologise for that. I have also contacted a Vbulletin specialist developer to try and discover what caused the problem and prevent it happening again.
Hi Pippa These things happen I'm afraid. You've done all that could be done. Thank goodness for regular back-ups! (That said, I do wonder whether more software developers are going the MS route - release software with minimal testing and rely on the end users to identify all of the bugs )
My son upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 and since I've been having trouble on the forum and other sites. Not sure if it could be upsetting the forum?!
The forum went down while I was catching up with posts. How many times have I checked whether it was back up? I'm not telling , but really pleased to see us back online phew, the withdrawal symptoms are now disappearing
