I was just wondering if the forum goes down temporarily each night (for the EU folks). I've noticed that when I try to check it around midday-2pm it can randomly be down, but I've never logged the times so I'm not sure if it's at the same time each day. It was frustrating today because I wanted to check the name of the forum book club book before I went to the library but couldn't!
Not that I've noticed, but I'm not on really late at night, usually very early in the morning if anything. There was that one big down time a few weeks ago, but Pippa acknowledged it in a special post.
I've noticed it too. But not that it's 'down' as such. Just that the website times out when trying to load. I don't have trouble with other websites though.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention folks. The hosting company suspected that the big interruption last week was due to our traffic volumes increasing, and suggested that if it continues to grow, we upgrade our hosting package. I've check our stats and we are indeed growing. The forum had a record number of visitors in March. So, I will upgrade to the next level of hosting in the next day or two. I'll let you know when that is done, and if there is any downtime after that, please do let me know in this thread, so that I can take it up with our service providers.
Yes, a time-out, this is what I was trying to remember! This has been happening for aaaages and I've just never mentioned it, but I did wonder whether it was scheduled forum "downtime" or something else. Thanks for looking into it Pippa @editor
Yes seems to happen to me every Friday evening (in Canada). But a lot more frequent this past month. Now it all makes sense
