Well today he's got his paw on the ground, although no weight on it yet, but we are getting there. Going to the vets tomorrow. Watch this space. Paws crossed.
Good to hear that Fred's a little better today. Hoping all goes well at the vets tomorrow. Don't forget to le us all know how you get on.
The vet is very pleased with Fred. He is doing really well (Fred not the vet). He has to stay in for 2 more days and then he can have his first walk on a lead .
That's good news. Really pleased to hear that Fred is making good progress, such a relief when they are on the mend. Have you go to keep Fred's walks shorter initially, and gradually build up?
The vet said he thought Fred had Sprained his shoulder and should be ok if we took things slowly. Yes short lead walks and build them up slowly. I am just so glad that he is going to be ok. I felt awful when he did it. Love him to bits and hate seeing him in pain.
Well went for his first short lead walk today. He was trying to pull a bit, but I just stop walking and he came back to heel. I think he was so glad to be out and about having a good sniff. He did walk nicely on his way home. He's asleep now in the kitchen The best news there is no sign of his limp
Really pleased that the first lead walk went well and there is no sign of a limp. Juno would spend more time sniffing than walking if she had her way, can't say I blame her really after not having been out for so many weeks. Had our first walk this morning with her allowed off lead, some retrieves and recalls and then a stop in town for a drink in the bar on the way home. Really pleased as her recall was good whch I was worried about after so many weeks with on lead. She is zonked out by my feet. I'll be watching this evening for any sign of a limp so fingers crossed.
So pleased that Juno walk went well. How many weeks was Juno on lead walks? I keep looking at Fred for a limp. Maybe we could start, limp watch, well there not much on TV
Juno's been on lead walks since early February when the limp re-occurred with her surgery in March. Don't start me on watching for limps - I openly admit I'm neurotic about it but trying to overcome it
When you have had a scare and a serious issue I don't think there is any harm in being vigilant for the 'limp' but I can imagine the sinking feeling if you do....good health and happy walks to them both x
Sorry,don't know where the rest of my post went,I had also written that I'm was glad to be able to read right through the thread and find Fred had improved with rest and it wasn't anything untoward..I'm having a big run through the boards to catch up on Forum Life after my Holis x
Fred walk went well today. I can tell he really wants to be let off his lead, but he will have to wait a couple of weeks I think to be on the safe side. I have been play games with him like, which hand is the doggie chocolate in. He is very good at it. Thank you everyone for all your support and kind wishes.
So pleased to hear Fred is doing well. Snowie limped three times as a puppy and I know all about the "limp watch" and the sinking feeling when you see it. Thankfully the two times he's limped as an adult (and my heart stopped both times) were because he had a thorn in his foot and he had scraped one of his paw pads. I remember only too well those "find the treat in the hand" games, activities that did not require much movement! Yesterday it was pouring with rain and he was nagging for an outing. So I remembered the activities that I played when he was not allowed out and decided yesterday to play "Find the treat". I had some leftover fruit salad so I hid a piece of fruit and then called him to "Find it". He loved playing, but when all the bits of fruit were eaten up, what did he do? Nagged for his outing! Meanwhile the Find It game had exhausted me! But I realised I was not going to get any work done until he'd had his outing so out in the rain we went, to the park, where we found another dog with his owner who had also given into the nags!! Good luck with keeping Fred on rest and all the best for a speedy recovery.
