Our lab is 10 months old, i have noticed a slight limp since he was probably 2 or 3 months old, it was real noticeable but i always thought he had a slight limp. The limp has become more noticeable as he has grown, so we finally took him for x-rays. I thought for sure it would come back as elbow dysplasia. The vet called us with the results and said the joint looks fine, no ED but he said he does have some rough spots on the outside of the joint, basically arthritis. I asked him if he has ever seen arthritis in a 10 month old puppy and he said no. He said he tested the joint and the dog shows no signs of pain. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi there. This sounds a bit worrying for you. I wonder if it's worth asking your vet to refer you on to someone with a more specialist interest in joints or arthritis, as this sounds outside of their experience?

Take the x-rays for an ortho consult.

Our black lab ended up with a limp at 8 months after some rough play with her dog pal. She's 1 now
The vet confirmed what I thought it was. Soft tissue damage. Bit of anti inflammatory medicine and rest for a week.
She never seemed in pain even when I touched her leg.
It comes back every now and again for a few minutes usually when she wakes up after a lot of running exercise.
Its essentially the same kind of sprain us humans get.
Maybe your dog could do with a little less exercise for a wee while.
