Re: frustrated with new puppy! Hi Charvelly, welcome to the forum. You pup must be cute when asleep though I have it all to come, in 2 and half weeks. I bet I shall be feeling exactly the same :-\
Re: frustrated with new puppy!
Not sure how to post pictures
Check out the Technical & Help section Essentialy you need to upload your photos to a host site - Flickr or Photobox are the commonest, but I use Dropbox, and there are others. Once there you need to copy the picture code and paste it into a post. The pinned Posting a Photo from Flickr post will talk you through the actual posting bit. It is free to open a Flick or Photobucket account and they are really easy to use. Give it a go! We love photos.
Re: frustrated with new puppy! Charvelly, I am IT technically challenged but found the technical guide quite helpful.

Re: frustrated with new puppy! A big HELLO from Buddy and I. I can only reiterate what others have said- things DO get better with time!
Re: frustrated with new puppy! Glad you have found us here, you will get lots of support from those who are going through the puppy stage as well as those who are safely out of it, as you can see. Don't have anything else useful to add, just wanted to give my welcome! Lisa and Simba(2 yr old LabX)
Re: frustrated with new puppy! Hi Charvelly from me and six month old Pongo. Oh lord, I so recognise your post! Feel free to look back at some of my early posts to this forum - go to my profile and look at 'my posts' - and you'll see me saying exactly the same thing. First time puppy owner, and I really, really wondered whether I'd done the right thing (or even whether I really liked this puppy..... :-\ ). It does pass.... just hang in there. Pongo now spends nearly all his time flopped out asleep and snoring, NEVER bites, loves playing the wrestling game but only when invited to, never chews anything but his toys* and is the most chilled out, calm boy you can imagine. He is just lovely. If you had told me four months ago I would be writing this it would have seemed absolutely impossible. It is very hard for the first few weeks, but remember the puppy is only playing and it shows that he loves you. We found the 'chew deterrent' spray from Pets At Home was brilliant at protecting furniture and curtains (and plants). Also the tactic of 'yelping' and walking away whenever he nipped us worked well. The most effective way of showing disapproval was definitely to turn away - breaking all eye contact - and ignore. (Although admittedly this is not easy when the puppy is hanging off your trouser leg.) Please keep us all updated with how you get on! Let off steam here whenever you need to - we've all been exactly where you are. Good luck! Rosie * except for OH's croc clog shoes, which we've decided are in joint ownership. They spend the day on OH's feet and the evening in Pongo's mouth. Quite amazing how long they've lasted, better value than any chew from Pets At Home.
Re: frustrated with new puppy! Hi from Albert 17 weeks and me. Hope things are a little better now. Lots of good advice on here. Albert is not biting nearly as much now, and sleeping much better. It won't be long before you look back on the first few weeks at home and wonder where the time went and how much easier things are! Albert still goes for the flowers and bits of rock, not to mention snails, but with lots of training he is learning to 'leave'. Take your puppy out and about in a big bag or just carry in your arms. Good for you both to get out of the house, and especially good for the pup to socialise. I put a towel in Albert's mouth every time he got too nippy, and I said 'gently' each time he mouthed me hard. Turn away if you can, not always possible I know, but just ignore. Things definitely improve very very quickly I promise. Good luck Jan
