One of Ella's dew claws is looking a little funny. It has a hard bit of rough claw below the normal claw. It almost looks as though the claw split at some point. It's hard (nothing loose or wobbly), no weeping and doesn't seem sore as she let me handle it (and if anyone knows the issues we've had with Ella's paws - me handling it is a big deal). Anyone had something similar? I tried to take a couple of pics..

Looks like the claw has split away at some point, yes. The rough bit looks very much like Willow's did when the quick was revealed and it then dried out. If it's not bothering her, I wouldn't worry. Just keep an eye on it.

OK, thanks Fiona. I'll just keep an eye on it and try to resist the temptation to pick at it when she's sleeping on my lap :D

It has definitely broken off - Charlie did this, also had no pain or particular trouble although I imagine it must have hurt when he did it. The vet said *rolling eyes* It's a broken nail. Leave it alone. They grow back, you know.

I'm glad you said that! I was looking at the close-up of the hair and getting excited about my choccy pup!
