Today is Obi's first Gotcha Day, which means that a year ago today we adopted him from his first family in Sydney and took him to his new home with us in Canberra. Driving home. He and I sat in the back seat together. We had to borrow my brother's car as our car has no back seat. We hadn't planned on taking him right then, but his family were very keen for him to go right away so we suddenly found ourselves driving 300km with a brand new and very confused dog. When we got home it was dark. He jumped straight in the ducks' paddling pool. He slept in a crate that night, in our bedroom, and did very well. Next morning - first walk! First trip to the pet shop. First swim in the lake. A couple of days later we had to drive back to Sydney to spend Christmas with my family. On this trip we also had three ducklings who were too young to be left. We took two cars - me and Obi were in my brother's car and Damon and the ducklings were in his car. I don't recommend this kind of interspecies road trip. Obi in Sydney with his first Kong. The neighbours lent a paddling pool for the ducklings, but a furry person found it first. So, that was a year ago. Happy Gotcha Day, Obi!
