My ladbrador is 15 months old and I have been training him since I got him. I have had a lot of success with the clicker training. The last 2 things to conquer is walking to heel and getting him to greet people without barging into them. The walking to heel I have tried everything in the book and beyond. He doesn't pull but wants to lead. I have gone back to basics with this again with the clicker and treats and taken on board the advice about driving to the where I want to walk him. However would be grateful for advice on how to get him to behave himself when we meet people. He doesn't jump up but he does barge into their legs. He loves people and gets very excited and beside himself when we meet anybody that looks like they want to speak to him. I try to get him to sit but without much success as he manages to get bum on the ground but come straight back up again. I am left wrestling with him. A tad embarassing.

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

The clicker training technique on this page no more jumping up works in the same way for barging.

The video is at the bottom of the article. Hope you find it helpful. I believe that the lady who produced it has made several other good clicker videos, well worth a look.

With the heelwork, the secret lies in the first two steps! Once you have those you can build on them, but go back to those first two steps with each new distraction you introduce.

    Good luck! Pippa
