Hi new member here. My name is Greg and the guy in my profile photo is Balder. He is a 13 week puppy I just got, yesterday, from a local Humane Society. Seems every time I google something for help I find this forums so decided to make a account and introduce myself, and the puppy. So far so good, trying to break habits he has gained at the shelter, I am 99% sure he has spent his whole life in a shelter as he was shipped up here from a Texas shelter.
Oh I should also say he does have a brother, Bear a 5 German Shepard mix, who wants nothing to do with him even tho he was raised around and lived with another dog, Crom who was 9, until December when that dog hit the rainbow.
Welcome to this amazing forum from Maxx and I in Sydney, Australia. Please keep us up to date with your progress with Balder. Ask any questions or even if you want to vent - we have all had our puppy-blues moments and it really helps to get some sympathy and brilliant, expert advice from our many experts . Not me as we are new too and have benefited hugely over the past 6 months.
Welcome, Greg and Balder! Several members here have experience of shelter rescue, so you’ll get some good advice here.
Thanks for the welcome. I forgot how tiring a puppy is as you try to crate and potty train them. At least his brother was excited to see him when we came back from a walk with my mom.
Hi Greg, welcome to you and Balder and Bear! Gosh yes, the puppy weeks are tough. I think we have all been through the "OMG what the hell have I done" phase. But you will soon be looking back on it as ancient history, I promise! Glad to hear that Bear is beginning to get used to the idea of a little brother....c'mon Bear, he isn't that bad!
