I've been following the Forum for a few weeks now but not introduced myself and my wonderful black lab puppy Dennis! He's 12 weeks old and we have now had him for 13 days! All going well so far - sleeping at night in his crate and being a delight to have around the house and garden. The best thing I have taken from the Forum so far was the recommendation to have your puppy off the lead as soon as possible - we have a big secure garden so he is fine to have the experience of freedom but I wouldn't have had the confidence to let him off so soon. We did it in a quiet woodland area and he followed us wonderfully! After meeting another dog he very keenly followed her scent after she left and went ahead out of sight. But soon realised and came bounding back!! Wonderful!
