    Proud of my boy!

When Charlie got back off lead in June - after 8 months on lead with no contact with other dogs - we were a bit of a mess. We were a bit of a mess on lead too!

He was galloping up to other dogs - full speed - no manners. He was unable to get himself out of trouble and regularly got "picked on" by older males. He was mad to play, and went deaf to his recall.

We worked hard...went to manners class, communication class, arranged walks, play dates....

Tonight, a group of 5 dogs arrived, older castrated males included. The range of behaviours was pretty bizarre to say the least. They were charging up, growling, trying to hump, with a border collie growling at everyone, rounding them all up.

And my boy was SO self assured and so not bothered! He said a quick hello to the ones he wanted to say hello to (and no excess sniffing), told the humpy ones "paws off the fur" with a polite but firm growl, and went about his business (peeing on some nettles) like a proper grown up.

    Was lovely to see... :) :) :)

Oh Charlie's all grown up. :'(

You should be very proud Julie. You have a well mannered, socialised dog that deserves to be boasted about. Not forgetting gorgeous as well. ;D

    I know! Love my boy! :* :* :*

(He's very rude to humans though - but the solution to that is to keep him away from the ones who care ;D )

That's just brilliant!! Good boy Charlie - that's a tremendous set of social skills! No wonder you are proud Julie, and rightfully so. Especially so considering the months he couldn't interact with other dogs. :)

When I was posting I was thinking about his ear licking and underwire bra pinching, which I still think is brilliant, ;D but everyone needs a little idiosyncrasy. That's just Charlie's and he's fab. ;)
