Er,I could think of a more obvious name for you to suggest! I like Joy...because she will be a little joy I'm sure and bring a LOT of joy to someone needing help one day .I do like 2 syllable names though .....Dex -Ter sound so much more effective when he's barrelling away from me than one syllable Dex version! :rolls eyes:
The whole litter will go together to the breeding centre to be assessed at six weeks old. Once they know which have passed they give any sponsored pups their names, then the rest are given the J names the BBH chose. She'll be seven weeks old when she comes to me. I'm almost sure she'll pass - I'm told she's the cheekiest, liveliest, naughtiest pup of the litter - which is just how GDs like them (me too!) ...
Why is that? I've always been so impressed with how calm and collected guide dogs are. And thought they probably started off that way!
No chance lol! They are crocapups like the rest of them. GDs need confident pups who will be happy to guide in the busiest cities. It's the quiet, shy, nervous pups that don't make it past the assessment process at 6 weeks - and would get withdrawn at any stage if they showed nervousness. I'm going to visit J a week today - I can't wait!! They are used to being in a pen, so that will be a start
I recall a man with his guide dog telling me his was very naughty. It was said in a way to make me feel better about my boisterous puppy (I thought). Yet there was his dog on her mat perfectly well behaved while he stood with his tin raising funds for Guide Dogs. Based on your comment above he was probably telling the truth! He did say she liked to lick ice-creams of kids who came to pet her and once gobbled the whole ice-cream! His response to the irate mother: I didn't see a thing!
