What a sweet little face. Sounds like you've given her a fab start, her new foster parent is going to be very lucky.
Would be very hard to say 'bye, even after a short time. I'm sure she'll be just as loved by her puppy walker.
Kara's gone, I wept once she'd gone. Now to move forward. Bruce is with me for two weeks. Luckily I have the use of an enclosed field to practice his recall. Tatze returns this evening. ...
Oh dear, now I am weeping again. Why do I do this to myself? I know why, it's the best job and best fun in the world, a super challenge and a great excuse for visiting many cafes etc and asking all and sundry to join you. It's a brilliant way to have 'colleagues' and a reason to chat about our obsession together. Best of all you get the most beautiful, intelligent puppies to care for. Of course, the end result is new 'eyes' and a very special companion for a VI or blind person, which is, for them, an absolute life changer. My head says all that, but my heart says "ouch, you broke me yet again". -------------------- Garden. Room
How very, very difficult for you, is that Bruce and Kara in the photo? They are both adorable. I used to find it almost impossible to let go of fosters, so I know a little of how you feel. I cried for days after the last one Indy left, and she was the deciding factor in our discussions around having three dogs. I am sure your heart will give a little sigh, then lift again at the sight of your next puppy
All my respect and admiration to you...you are doing such a wonderful thing for the pups and their eventual people, even if it does break your poor heart. I'm looking forward to hearing how you and Bruce (the name is killing me) get on with you recall.
The people who end up with these dogs gain so much from the wonderful, generous and brave work that you do. It hurts so much to let them go. But would it be worse, at the end of the day, to have known none of these pups at all? Not many people do or could do what you're doing. It takes a lot of skill and fortitude. I really admire you for it.
The recall is coming on really, really well. In fact, I can see no problem with it at all. I have started going to my normal places (woods, reservoirs etc) and he has not gone too far or run off at all. We have passed children, dogs, bikes, squirrels etc. The only thing I haven't been able to recall him from is fox poo! I am so pleased because he was under threat of being withdrawn yet all his work is marvellous. He's a big, calm, lovely gentleman.
Just got caught up with this wonderful thread....thanks for sharing your pics and videos, Mags! So gorgeous....I so admire your work with these dogs, you are doing a marvellous thing for those who will bless you forever for giving these pups a solid start. ❤️
