Pippa, I followed you,re method of getting our 7month old Labrador retriever to start picking up the dummy using the 'clicker' method, however we went through the various stages over many days and all was going well. trouble is I have taught him previously to retrieve a ball and return to my hand so even following your instruction to walk back to achieve longer 'hold' he thinks I don't want it and either runs off with it or settles down to try and chew it! I have tried leaving any further training for over a week but now soon as he sees it he picks it and runs off with it I have tried with varying rewards even trying to use his favourite 'sardines' but all to no avail! Any suggestions thanks
