Re: Gundog theft: How to protect your gundog from thieves I still think the answer to this growing problem is technology and in particular the satellite tracking device. It was recently announced that all new cars will have satellite tracking devices by law and similar devices worn on a dog's collar are also available. This is a partial solution to the problem because the first thing any dog thief will do is dispose of the collar. Technology needs to develop a small reliable power source that can be safely implanted in the dog and able to be recharged outside the body. I would have thought that is not beyond the wit of man?
