Hello Kris, just want to say don't despair! Eight weeks is really very very baby still! I have brought up four dogs from pups, three of them labs and every time I find I've forgotten how hard it was the last time! It's so well worth sticking with it though and you'll end up with a lovely dog I'm sure, I did, every single time, which is probably why I always forget what hard work it is! I would definitely recommend a good training class, it puts things into perspective, makes you realise you're not alone and gives advice and support in training your little monster! Also make full use of this forum, it helps you maintain your sanity through the difficult times.

It sounds like you are having a tough time with your diagnosis and being by yourself for big chunks of time. It really will get better, I'm sure at different speeds with different puppies. Mine is just three weeks older than yours, but every week he matures a little and the balance shifts towards more fun and less stress!

I'm just not sure that describing him as dominant is all that helpful. I'm sure it feels like he is dominating your life (and he probably is!) but I found it helpful when I instinctively labelled him as 'naughty' or 'difficult' to remind myself that he isn't setting out to deliberately annoy you- he is just being a puppy. Changing my thinking that way really helped me to relax about the whole thing, and I am a pretty stressed out person!
