Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Poor Hattie! Luckily she is such a well adjusted dog, I'm sure she will be fine. Horrible experience though.
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Poor Hattie.. :'( :'( Hope she is OK I would have reacted the same way. We do have quite reactive dogs on the common where I sometimes walk the dogs, and oddly with the two, they seem to be a target for other groups of dogs. I now carry a small hand bag can of "corrector" spray. It just lets out a jet of air with a hiss, when I have used it (once) both dogs stopped instantly and stared at me, it was enough to interrupt the behaviour, and importantly for me get a few moments to to control back. I know some won't agree, but it seemed like a harmless but effective interrupter, especially as the owners screaming at their dogs had not effect at all, which hardly is surprising considering.
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( So sorry to hear this Helen :'( I really hope Hattie is ok and not too scared. I have been in the same situation and gave reacted in the same way as you did. At the time you do anything to protect your dog. I really hope someone in authority deals with this soon before it becomes an issue! Some people are unbelievable! Big hugs to you and Hattie {{hugs}}
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Thanks everyone for your concern I appreciate it. I have arranged a walk with a friend and her friendly Doberman tomorrow, Hattie knows him well and they play all the time when we meet up, with a bit of luck we will meet some other dogs too. I think this will help Hattie x
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Why on earth is the dog walker letting the dog off lead?? So sorry that Hattie and you had yet another awful experience with this dog

So sorry that Hattie and you had yet another awful experience with this dog [/quote] I have no idea Rachael, when she saw how mad I was she just said she brought him up on this walk because it was quiet. For around here it is pretty quiet but there are other dog walkers, I don't see people every day but that's not the point. She realised she was in the wrong and apologised, I think he should be muzzled but he won't be because between the dog owner and the walker they seem to think they have sorted his aggressive issues out. I asked how and her reply was "well I can have him in my house with other dogs just not in the same room" yep that sounds sorted to me. x
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Thanks Jac we are fine but I'm not so sure about Sid after he had my size 4 up his backside x

Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Errr I had forgotten about that awful boy but love, love the films. It makes me think of Thomas my youngest at the age of about 3 or 4 years always insisting on wearing his Buzz Lightyear costume absolutely everywhere ;D ;D xx

Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Just seeing this now, so sad to hear poor Hattie has been attacked again by the same dog! I hope she bounces back okay, hopefully with some nice walks with "friendliest" she will be okay.
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Due to internet issues I've just caught up with this Helen. Poor Hattie. I hope she is all right today and there aren't any wounds. I bet her coat gives good protection and Sid vicious just got mouthfuls of fur. My old lab got attacked loads of times. He even got attacked by bitches. One particularly nasty incident involved a mastiff bitch which slipped its lead. The owner still had hold of the male which still managed to join in. I waded in but nothing was going to stop them. Luckily I'd dropped Murphy's lead and he got away and ran. The mastiffs weren't interested in the effort of running. The man was still hold of the male mastiffs lead !!! Murphy no matter how many times a dog attacked him never fought back or attacked another dog. He carried on wanting to play with all of them. Hopefully Hattie will be the same.
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Oh Helen sorry for the upset you've had.....hope your walk yesterday went better ? Xxx
Re: Hattie has been attacked ;( ;( ;( Thank you everyone, we had a lovely 2 hour walk the next day with Hattie's male Doberman friend and she was fine. Haven't seen any other dogs since but I think she will be OK. xx
