Yesterday Hattie and I were walking through a couple of fields with a rather large flock of sheep in it when we heard a lamb in distress. I couldn't see it but Hattie knew exactly where it was and directed me up the bank and there he was with his head firmly stuck in some thick tree branches Hattie was a complete angel licking the lamb whilst I tried to free him but without any luck so I called a friend who came to help. I tied Hattie's lead to the tree right next to the lamb and she seemed to calm him down as he didn't wriggle and stopped crying. His mum was very close by watching us, she was very distressed as heavens knows how long the poor little mite had been stuck there in the heat Eventually we got him out and he was reunited with his mum - phew!! I am hugely proud of Hattie for being so gentle with the lamb xx
Well done to both of you. Perfect pair...hope you left your calling card with them for any future assistance
What a lovely story, well done Hattie for Hattie knowing where the lamb was and calming it down and well done you and your friend for getting it out. I rescued a sheep that was caught in brambles in a stream, I phoned the farmer's wife and told her, I went back 24 hours later and the poor sheep was still in the stream, so I cut her out (had bought some clippers just in case!) and got myself soaked. Poor sheep was starving. Obviously we are shepherdesses
I'm so glad that you were able to quickly rescue the wee lamb - bless Hattie for locating him and keeping him calm. She's such an amazing dog.
