This morning during our walk Hattie and I were doing some retrieving with her favourite ball, it landed in the undergrowth. Hattie went in to retrieve it when I saw her frantically biting at her lower leg, she didn't yelp or cry. I went straight over and there was a, I think, a wasp still trying to land on her. We moved away but she was holding her paw up, couldn't walk more than a few feet, stopping, sitting, laying down she was panting and shaking. I tried to carry her some way but couldn't manage so I called David and he came to pick us up. She hasn't bothered too much with it but sometimes there's a little nibble. Thankfully she seems OK but I was very worried xx
Oh no poor Hattie! Poor Poppy trod in a hornet's nest on her walk with OH today and has been stung 4 or 5 times. She is ok, though a bit distressed and clingy, poor girl. Of course my fear is always that stress and pain might be a trigger for a seizure...
Oh no poor Poppy that's a lot of stings. Yes it was the distress, she was very clingy that upset me also the worry of any allergy to stings. It could have been a hornet that stung Hattie as it was on the ground. I hope Poppy is OK and there won't be any seizures xx
Poor love , they hurt ! If she does show any reaction, you could give her half a piriton Helen, but mostly they can deal with it, hugs to Hattie xx
Oh no, poor Hattie and Poppy! I was stung not long ago and I remember just how much it hurt. It must be so scary for the dog, too, not really understanding where the pain has come from
Thank you all - Poppy has eaten her supper and been for a little walk and is now sleeping, so fingers crossed she'll be ok... Hope Hattie is feeling better too, Helen?
Thank you all from us also. So glad Poppy is OK Karen. Hattie has been sleeping all afternoon but seems alright. She will be having her dinner soon so that's the big test! xx
Poor dogs, you forget how painful they are till you are unlucky enough to be reminded. Hope they can both forget about it very soon.
Hope Hattie is OK now, poor little sausage, it is very painful. Wasps used to make a beeline (pardon the pun!) for my solid Liver German Pointer and would land on her, several of them, at times, I used to have to bat them away.
I know it's a really dangerous time of year for stings. The wasps are really aggresive. Just hope the pups are ok.
