Hi there and welcome to the forum! The good news is that the old adage isn't true - you absolutely can teach an old dog new tricks Using positive reinforcement training any dog can learn new things. It might take a bit longer with an older dog as they are more likely to have some ingrained bad habits, but if you start from the beginning and move on step by step then it's totally achievable.
