Hi there! This is actually my second post because I couldn't wait to dive in with a couple of questions, but I thought I should make a proper introduction. I am Fiona, an English chick who lives in the mountains of Andorra with my husband and two ferrets. We will be bringing home our first Labrador puppy on 4th October - a puppy that I helped to whelp when they arrived by surprise a week earlier than expected! Obviously Jake (dad) had got in there a little earlier than thought! I don't know yet if we'll be having a bitch or a dog, or whether it will be black or yellow. I don't actually care at all. I can't wait for the journey to begin! F

Re: Hello from Andorra!! Hi there and welcome from me and Simba, 2 yr old LabX. I live in Canada, forgive my ignorance, but where is Andorra??
Re: Hello from Andorra!! Pippa - that's awesome. I have two Jills, Fidget and Twitch. I can't wait to introduce them to the new puppy. How long would you suggest leaving it? I was thinking about crating the pup when the fuzzbutts come out to play for a couple of days until the puppy's feeling a bit more settled - so they'll be able to smell each other's scents and get used to that, then when we're read to introduce them, try to keep the puppy quiet (?! I may be a bit over-optimistic there) and let the ferrets approach as they wish. Andorra is a little principality in the Pyrenees mountains between France and Spain. It's a great place, very beautiful with skiing in the winter and lots of fabulous walking. It's not unusual for people to not know where it is. A friend of mine was in Canada once and overheard someone say, "That guy's from Africa!!". Um, no. That would be Angola I've not come up with any names yet. Our friend has said he'll keep an eye on them as their characters develop now their eyes are open and suggest which would be best for us. I really don't mind if we have male or female, black or yellow. I had considered Milo for a boy, because we're going to Milos in Greece on holiday next week, but I'm not sure. I'd prefer to stay away from "human" names since we live in a Catalan culture where they can find that disrespectful. I'm keeping super vigilant of things going on now, just in case something speaks to me
Re: Hello from Andorra!! Welcome to you and your puppy to be! We have Dexter who is nearly 2 ,a yellow boy and we are originally from the UK but live in Dubai x

[/quote] Oh! I shall definitely have to do that. Here's a couple of tasters from a walk I did a couple of weekends ago, to Coma Pedrosa, the highest peak in Andorra. It took just over ten hours round trip, including a lunch break and beer break on the way down, so I think it'll be a while before out little pup is up to something like this! We did have doggy company from an old lady, Maisy, but she and her mum only did a couple of hours.
