I just joined this forum, so happy to have found it. I have a yellow Lab named Bella, and the name Bella in Italian is "beautiful" and in Latin it is "War" so that would explain my user name. She's almost 9 years old and unfortunately she is starting to have medical issues. I wanted to be a part of a forum with other Lab lovers who are knowledgeable and I might be able to receive some advice and read about the experiences others are having. I also own a 7 year old giant Newfoundland dog named Stanley. They are so close as brother and sister and we just love them so much!
... the name Bella in Italian is "beautiful" and in Latin it is "War" ... Well I never knew that! Welcome to the forum, we're very happy to have you here
Hello and welcome, and a huge welcome to Stanley. I used to have 3 Newfies Poppy, Tarka and Harry. I just love Newfies, and now their smaller relation the lab. Be sure to post some pictures
There are variations. A Catholic priest who studied Latin is the one that originally told me that Bella can be used as the plural of bellum. And then I looked it up ... Bellum (daemon), the daemon of war from Greco-Roman mythology. Bellum omnium contra omnes, a Latin phrase meaning "the war of all against all" in Latin. Bellum se ipsum alet, a Latin phrase meaning "The war will feed itself" in Latin. Bellum civile, a Latin phrase meaning "civil war" in Latin. Example sentence: Si omnes opinionibus pugnent non sint bella. Translate to: If everyone fought for their own convictions there would be no war.
