Hello everyone. I have had my gorgeous yellow lab puppy since Saturday (when he turned 8 weeks).

Ash has been really good and hasn't had a single toilet accident but I'm exhausted as there are still toilet trips through the night & I've not caught up on the first night of no sleep. I'm sure it is the same for lots of you? He's still on the farm time schedule of bed at 10.30pm and up at 5am, with 2 toilet trips in the night usually at 1am and 3am. Last night he had an extra toilet trip as he managed to sneakily eat the cats food which upset his tummy.

I grew up with dogs (rescue X's) but this is my first puppy. He's into everything so it is just like when my three kids (10, 12, 15) were babies. I knew a puppy would be hard work but it really is tough even if he does nap a lot.

Looking forward to chatting to all of you, getting advice from all you experts who have been through it, and hopefully giving advice for the stages as I go through them.

    C x

Hi there and welcome to the forum. There are quite a few new puppy owners here at the moment, so you are in good company. It sounds as though you are doing really well, so hang on in there. :)

    Hi and welcome :)
I have Harley who is nearly 11 months old and is red fox :)
Have you got any photos of Ash?
It won't take long before he sleeps through and needs less toilet trips overnight :)

Hello! I picked up my pup on Saturday too. I am finding the first week interesting! Tiring and life changing. It's great though and just the beginning. She's lying next to me sort of upside down! Welcome :)

Hi from me and Maisie, who is now 16 weeks old. The night time trips are exhausting aren't they, but they will only last a few weeks; the early mornings may take a little longer! ::)

Looking forward to hearing about all your adventures with your new pup! :)

Hi from me and Molly. She's nearly 10 months but I remember feeling exhausted in the first few weeks. Take heart, it doesn't last long - puppies grow up much more quickly than babies!

Hi there! Welcome from me and Lilly who is a 4 year old black girl.
Sounds like Ash has you run ragged :D Puppy days are pretty short lived, it will be a distant memory soon.
    Best of luck!
And remember, if pup is snoozing - you try to have a catch up too ;)

Hi welcome to the forum from me any my pup Nellie 9 weeks old.
We've had Nellie for 2 weeks now and things are starting to calm down a lot so there is hope! ;D
We have been waking once in the night for a wee but last night we decided to stop as we had to wake her most times to take her out and she slept from 10:40 to 5:30! Still early I know but feeling much more refreshed after a good nights sleep!
Looking forward hearing more about how you get on and looking forward to seeing a pic of little Ash! ;)

How adorable! And welcome to the forum! :) You're in good company here with lots of new puppy parents. We're all sleep deprived, bit to pieces, obsessed with food and poop and having a wonderful time! Look forward to following Ash's adventures.
