Re: Hello from Duke & I
Welcome and hello! What does silver factored mean?
He's I'm wondering too?He's a lovely one,love a cute puppy picture,thankyou,enjoy him ,we've got Dexter a 14 month old yellow boy .
Re: Hello from Duke & I It means a chocolate Labrador with a gene or genes that 'dilute' the coat colour so it has a silvery hue. Same thing as what is referrer to as a 'silver' Labrador, except that you can't register a Labrador as Silver as there are only three recognised colours. Silver Labradors must be registered as Chocolate but are still often referred to as 'silver factored Chocolate'. Colour-wise, they do appear to be genetically different to your standard Chocolate.... I'm sure that Dukester will correct any of that if I've got it wrong
Re: Hello from Duke & I Welcome from me Helen, Hattie 6 years and our rescue Charlie 3 years. Duke is beautiful Enjoy the forum.

Thanks guys, I joined another forum also, and stated my pup was a silver factored chocolate, and i got harassed and very negative comments towards the both of us, stating hes not a lab, but a mix breed and i'm a fool for buying him and not adopting him. I was shocked. Being a first time lab owner it kind of made me feel like crap. So thank you for all the nice and positive welcomes!! Duke is coming along, sleeping at night is getting better night by night, and i'm getting more sleep, lol! However during the day while I clean the floors, I crate him, and that does not go so well. His house training isn't going awful, I think the past few days we've only had 3 messes in the house, which I don't think is too shabby! Im trying!
Re: Hello from Duke & I Well I think we probably all have varying opinions on silver labs but that doesn't change the fact you and your pup are very welcome and I'm sure you will both have lots of wonderful adventures together which we're looking forward to hearing about ;D

In my opinion you paid for Duke you didn't ask anyone else too, your choice, your puppy. There is so much dog snobbery it really gets my goat. I have had a few out of line comments about my girl Hattie as she is a Labradoodle, and I always reply "did I ask you to pay for her?" they soon shut up . Don't let them get you down Duke is gorgeous May I suggest you quit the other forum as this one is so friendly We look forward to hearing all about Duke.
Re: Hello from Duke & I Good to hear that you are getting some sleep! So, how is the crating going? Does he cry and make a noise when you crate him while cleaning up? Do you give him something in his crate (like a Kong with treats in it) to keep him busy and make him think the crate is a good place? Another trick is to feed all meals in the crate. You want your pup to think that everything good happens in the crate. When you buy a new toy, put it in the crate. Leave surprise treats in the crate for him to find. That kind of thing
