Hi everyone I'm a newbie to this forum but not a newbie to labs We lost our last two within 6 months of each other, Max at 11 in December to lung cancer and Lizzie at 14 in June to arthritis and old age. We were going to wait a while before getting any more as we were devastated to lose our first two. But as we have never lived in this house without a dog, it was just so unbearably empty and sad without one that we decided to get two puppies; Barney and Jack, black labs now aged 10 weeks 5 days, we got them at 8 weeks. They are absolutely adorable, they play together and snuggle up to sleep together. They had their final jabs on Monday and the vet says another 7-10 days after that they can go out - can't wait ! Can't seem to post any oics on ipad, will try on laptop.
Re: Hello from England Welcome to the forum! I'm sorry that you lost your other two dogs so recently. It's just dreadfully hard. Totally understand the need to have the patter of furry feet in the house again, ASAP... I bet those two are keeping you busy Looking forward to seeing pics.

Re: Hello from England Welcome, I'm new to the forum too. Your 2 pups are adorable. My Luka is almost 15 months already and it seems forever ago that he was that small! Seeing the post by Dexter-looks a lot like my woofer!
Re: Hello from England Thanks everyone. It is actually much easier than i had anticipated having two pups, they are so good and are great fun to watch. They play together, exploring everything, they have rough and tumble time which sometimes gets a tad rough so we distract them with toys. They snuggle up together to sleep but often settle in separate rooms quite happily. We were worried when we read all the advice of not getting two from the same litter AFTER we had got them, but i don't think we have anything to worry about. I have already trained them to sit and wait for their dinners or for a treat and they are both recalling when i rattle the treat box and shout them They sleep in a crate in our bedroom at night and go straight to sleep until about 5.30am when they cry to go out, so i don't think we can complain at that. Our twin sons who are 22 both live at home so there is plenty of adult attention for them and help with training.
Re: Hello from England I loved the first photo of them with their scrumptious little fat tums and other ;D You have managed to bring up twin sons so will be well experienced in bringing up twin pups

Re: Hello from England Hello. We have a 17 week old black labrador puppy called Ruby. It's my first experience with a puppy although when I met my partner ten years ago I joined a family with a labrador cross (from RSPCA) Stevie, and a whippet cross, Tess, also rescue. My mother-in-law also had a yellow labrador guide dog and a retriever retired guide dog. Our dogs both died - Tess early on and Stevie when our son was a baby. My mother-in-law's two also died. After all the hard work with Stevie who was blind and towards the end, incontinent, and having a baby who didn't sleep, we decided to give it a break until our son was old enough to appreciate having a dog, so now he's 5 and we have Ruby. Ruby came from a farm and was born to a chocolate lab. We know the family through our son. Ruby's mother and grandmother are absolutely gorgeous and we hope that Ruby will turn out to be an equally lovely adult dog. She was the smallest of a litter of 11 and her tail is deformed, probably nipped off by the mother during the birth. Everyone wanted her! She's one of the few girls and had to hold her own with her brothers and she's certainly a determined girl! Ruby's very much loved and we're doing our best to train her. She's clever and has learnt a lot, although I'm always concerned about the things we haven't managed to succeed with yet! We live in York in the suburbs and have quite a big overgrown garden where Ruby loves to play. There are plenty of interesting places to take her that are just a short car ride away and the walks nearer to the house are ok too. Glad to have found this site - I have so many things I want advice on!
