Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and my bestie Wilson! My name is Lauren and I a 25 year old woman living in northern California. I grew up in a small town in northern Ohio and moved to the sunshine state about 2 years ago. We will soon be moving to Germany!! While I am very excited to go, I'm a bit nervous about Wilson flying, but more on that late. Wilson was given to me by my fathers coworker in 2011 as a puppy, Wilson's dad was a loving family dog who at the age of 11 began to develop cancer. His owner wanted to breed his dog so he could have the offspring of his dog. He found good homes for all the puppies and I was lucky enough to be given one. I am not 100% sure if genetic tests were done prior to breeding, nor if he is akc registered. I should inquire about that....*makes mental note* Wilson grew up with myself and my 6 younger siblings, one who is the same age as him. He is a loving, bouncy, kid tolerant dog....all in all he is wonderful!! In 2013 I enlisted in the USAF and left Wilson in the care of my parents while I went through training. After a year and a half I was able to drive from California to Ohio to bring him back with me!! He ABSOLUTELY LOVED the car ride and spent the majority of it with his head on the center console or looking out the window. He never was car sick or expressed any discomfort. Once back in California he had some mild separation anxiety, but he calmed down after about a week once he realized I always came home for him. Health wise he is doing well, he limped for the longest time. I took him to the vet when we arrived in California. She performed xrays and diagnosed him with a torn cruciate ligament in his knee. The injury was old and has scarred over. It has never caused him any pain, just some stiffness. He is gone like a flash with no sign of any limp when you throw anything for him to retrieve! To remedy this I have gotten him an orthopedic bed that I cover with a heated blanket, he has even figured out how to turn it on. I am aware of the issues a heating blanket can cause for dogs, his bed is not in a kennel and he is free to get up and leave his bed if he gets too warm. He spends his nights in bed with me anyway. Along with this he is taking joint supplements and regular exercise. He was ~90lbs when I got him from my parents, he has slimmed up and is now ~ 80lbs, his vet considers him to be healthy and trim. I am happy to say with these lifestyle changes and supplements his limp has disappeared! and now for everyone's favorite part!! PICTURES He had a little bit of a wall chewing phase as a puppy >.< Late nights helping me study He's quite handsome Even mastered the art of the selfie The happiest dog in the world, even at the vets office he still smiles Like I said earlier, takes up so much more space Who could tell that face he's not a lap dog! A happy snowman! He is so very very loving His favorite place to sleep Sometimes I wonder how he is even comfortable... He wants me to love his slobbery hedgehog as much as he does, sharing is caring after all
Thank you!! I am headed to Ramstein AFB, but where exactly I will be living I have no idea. I have never been to Europe before
Welcome to the forum from Holly and me in Wales, UK. By coincidence, I have a cousin in Lima, Ohio and their son is serving at Ramstein!
Welcome Lauren and Wilson, we are Hattie 8 years and our rescue boy Charlie 5 years. Enjoy the forum!! x Helen x
WElcome to the board from Oban and I in Ontario, Canada. You are lucky to be able to take Wilson with you to Germany. Nobody else has commented, am I the only one who can't see the photos?
I can't see the photos but I'm on mobile so they don't always. Owleeii did you upload from a hosting site like Flickr. Forum software doesn't allow direct upload from computers/phones/tablets, it has to be through a hosting site
If you want to copy photos from FaceBook, you have to get the image URL (that is, open the photo, right-click on it and "copy image address" or similar), then paste it in here. If you want it to show inline, rather than as a link, you then need to wrap it in IMG tags, so it will look a bit like this: [ IMG]http://blahblahblah.com/blah.jpg[/IMG]
Hello and welcome to you and WIlson Lilly and I live in Scotland, near St Andrews. Great to have you on board.
He's beautiful! Ramstein AFB is at Wiesbaden, about 30 km away from Frankfurt, so quite near where I live
