Hello world. We are about to bring home our mixed-breed Labrador next weekend. I've been lurking in the forums, reading the HP handbook, and consuming the LabradorSite as well as TotallyGunDogs - I thought I'd go ahead and introduce myself. I see a few folks with non-pure breds, but if it's frowned upon to participate without a pure Lab, I'll respect that and go back to lurking. We're a family of 4 and our dog will be a family pet first and foremost, and hopefully an upland bird companion for dad (me) in the autumn. I had been considering a variety of approaches to training and have made my way from Wolters clear over to here. Pippa's approach just resonates with me and the family and we look forward to the challenges (and hopefully, the rewards!) Our Pup (currently named Hunter, but still up for discussion) will be 11 weeks old when we get him and he is believed to be a Lab / Cur mix (shelter dog from the South Eastern US). The litter consists of 3 totally lab-looking Chocolates, 2 totally lab-looking Blacks, and 2 brindled pups. I'm very excited to see such a vibrant community here and I'm sure to have lots of questions (already do), but I'll search the forum as best I can before I ask. Thanks, Pippa and all of you for your contributions, and thanks in advance for answering any of my questions.
Hello there, and a very warm welcome. All dogs are welcome here, no matter what breed or mixed breed. Post away, ask whatever questions you want. Look forward to hearing about your journey with your new pup, he looks adorable!
Hello and welcome to the forum - both you and the gorgeous Hunter - from me and my two monsters, Willow (black girl) and Shadow (yellow boy) who will be 2 years old in August. Of course cross-breeds are welcome, as is any other breed. We may be mainly Labs here, but we're certainly not breedist and have a good selection of other entries for the Most Lovable Dog competition Please feel free to ask away; we're not one of those forums that insists you search for hours to find something someone asked three years ago
Welcome! From me and great big yellow Pongo in south Wales. What a beautiful face your boy has got! And those eyes.....he is going to wrap you round his little dewclaw, isn't he.... Ask anything, any time. Really looking forward to hearing about your adventures!

Hi there from western Canada! My dog is a Lab/Newfie cross and thankfully have been very welcomed here! So no worries on that front. You pup is gorgeous, can't wait to get to know him better!
Hello from me Henry and George from the east coast of England. Love the look of your new boy - had a brindled lab cross in the 1970's (showing my age) and he was great!
Welcome, what a lovely looking pup. I am sure you will have fun with him and he will enjoy the gundog training. Looking forward to hearing more.
Welcome from me & my 2 mongrels. Your pup looks a lot like Coco who is German Shepherd x Labrador, though I haven't seen Coco as a little puppy.
Hello there to you both, little Hunter is just gorgeous, you are so very welcome on the Labrador Site .Im looking forward to hearing how he settles in with you and your family x
OK, here's my first question: What should I change his food to? He's coming to us eating Purina Puppy Chow. We're sticking w/ kibble, but would like to (slowly) change off Purina. He'll be 11 weeks next weekend when we pick him up. Should we transition to another puppy food, or transition him to a large breed food? And once we sort that out, I'm very open to recommendations for a brand that would be available to us in New England.
