Hello from my boy Elvis and his mom and dad, Larry and Patti. Elvis is a 9+ year-old chocolate and very spoiled. He is at the age where I worry about his health. He's a pig and over-weight but not too bad. I worry because he has lumps (lipomas) all over and little pea-sized lumps on his feet and one ear. The vet said not to worry but I wonder if this is normal for all aging labs.
Hi @Patti Phillips Unfortunately normal for Labs to develop bumps. Measure them so that you can keep track of their growth. If they get too large talk to Vet. As you are aware you need to get the weight down. Maybe feed a smaller amount but distribute that over several meal times. Or more swimming--low impact.
Hi there, and welcome to the forum! As Michael says, fatty lumps are very common in labs. Especially as they age. The lumps will often get smaller if a dog loses weight, though they don't usually disappear completely.
