Hi, our 5th lab, Blue, is now 18 months old and the first (and perhaps last) we really would like to breed and get a puppy from the litter. Having had mixed success with some of our earlier choices, we’ve come to appreciate the importance of the disposition of the bitch. So we are looking for suitable mates in the central Texas area. Blue is AKC registered, and a registered AKC Good Citizen. Father passed away but comes from a long line of hunters and family dogs. Mother was a single bred female on a ranch in Cleburne-hunter and great family dog. Asking for advice on how to get started and finding breeders or just suitable mates in the central Texas area. Any advice/help greatly appreciated. Chris, Kerstin Joslin Belton, TX
Hi Chris and Kerstin, welcome to the forum I'm afraid I can't tell for certain from your post whether Blue is male or female! Happily, Pippa has written practical guides to breeding from both perspectives, on our main site: So You Want Your Labrador To Be A Stud Dog? Breeding Labs: Should My Dog Have Puppies? I hope they help!
